jordaunbee asked: When you're making sweets with vegan substitutes, do the sweets still taste the same as when they're made traditionally?

Honestly, it depends on what you’re substituting. If you are using vegan margarine instead of butter, it won’t be too different. I find that replacing eggs in a recipe, whether it be with egg replacer, bananas, apple sauce, etc. usually doesn’t effect the taste of baked goods. Milk vs. non-dairy milk is never really an issue with taste.

I will say, that custards and souffles do not taste the same because eggs make up the majority of the dish. But, you can sprinkle a pinch of Black Indian Salt (not black lava salt) into those dishes to give it a slightly eggy taste.

I hope that helps!

Brunch! Whole wheat waffles, tofu soyrizo scramble, and fawaffle with blood orange hummus. The berry waffle and scramble were my favorites. @eatatstreet @thevedgeapp@dirtyrottenvegan (at Susan Feniger’s Street @eatatstreet)

Had a great dinner with @theveganzombie guys at Au Lac. First the BBQ ‘Pork’ Rolls, then the tomato dill soup, and of course ended with a slice of the Choconut X-tasy! (at Au Lac Vietnamese Humanese Cuisine)
